The Parish Pastoral Council
Purpose: Pastoral Council members are challenged to continual renewal through prayer, study, listening and dialog. In developing priorities and directions for the parish, the Council is the means for giving everyone a voice in parish life. In fostering communication and collaboration, the Council encourages and initiates dialog among parish leaders and members and also, reminds them of the concerns of the larger church. The council is also a vehicle to inform the Bishop of needs and directions that are common to our parish. Matters of fiscal stewardship such as financial, budgets, building and grounds are the concern of the Parish Finance Council.
The Parish Pastoral Council is scheduled to meet the first Thursday of December, March, June and September at 7 pm at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Meeting times and locations may change so please call one of the members if you have anything you wish to have discussed or need to attend.

Parish Council Minutes
The October 14, 2008 meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council was called to order at 6:30 PM at the home of Robin Dinkel by Father Christian with a prayer.
Those in attendance were Gus Scott, Joyce Irvine, Dave & Lisa Heflin, Tom Kurdelski, Pat Honeysett, and Robin.
The first order of business was to elect a secretary. Gus Scott nominated Pat Honeysett, the nomination was seconded by Joyce Irvine, and the motion passed.
The second order of business was to elect a chairman. Gus Scott nominated Tom Kurdelski, Lisa Heflin seconded the motion and the motion was passed.
There was no one present with the July minutes - they were not discussed.
Father Christian has a new idea for the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It was discussed at length and decided to try a new time and day of the week. This will depend on availability of the church - to avoid any distractions.
Father Christian also brought up an idea for a parish (to include St
Therese) day trip. Saturday - February 28th 09 was chosen as a possible date. Gus Scott is looking into the trip and will have more details at a later date.
The high school CCD program welcomes Cindy Chlebana of SS C&M and Mary Podseanen of St Therese to their program for this school year.
Dave Heflin reported that the Angel Food program was not something needed at this time at SS C&M. However the Respect for Life Baby Bottle Project is well under way. It is especially in need of our prayers & the bottle to be returned the last Sunday in October.
Joyce Irvine asked what happened to the plants donated by the parishioners? It was explained that a weed took over & the only way to rid the flower beds of this weed was with professional help. That is why the landscape people were brought in.
Joyce also mentioned that the men’s club will be serving breakfast on the first Sunday of each month. They are saving to do something significant for the new hall. Gus noted that the men’s club did Women of Outdoors for profit and were happy with the results,
Gus would also like to know if the area the “out door” rosary has been set is where we want it permanently?
Lisa Heflin stated that CCD is going well and we have 2 more events ahead of us. Confirmation will be starting soon for the 9th grade.
Theresa and Dave will have announcements in the bulletin.
Tom Kurdelski would like everyone to know that he is available each Sunday during CCD, if anyone would like to bring up questions, thoughts, or ideas for the PPC meetings.
Pat Honeysett would like to especially thank all those who helped with and attended the parish picnic. Special thanks to Mindy Cutlip for doing the children’s games and to Deb Nardin and Mindy for direction.
There has been an idea brought up of a SS C&M Chili Contest, to be held here at the church. (Not to interfere with the Winterfest Chili Cook
Off) Possibly a Saturday in January & February.
Robin mentioned that the choirs and musicians are starting preparation for the holidays. Each group is to have two songs.
With no more business to discuss Lisa motioned to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Joyce. We adjourned and enjoyed a wonderful pot luck dinner.
The next meeting is scheduled for January 12th and Joyce will do devotions.
Respectfully submitted,
Pat Honeysett
